Benny Binion's Horse at WNFR

The event is sponsored by the Binion family in honor of Benny Binion. Binion was essential in bringing the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo to Las Vegas in 1985 and without him the move might have never happened. After the move, the WNFR became one of the premier sporting events in Las Vegas with a large increase in the pots that the cowboys were competing for. The move was also very lucrative for Las Vegas as the rodeo lasts for 10 nights which helps out many of the hotels and casinos. The Binion family donates a portion of the proceeds to the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame which Benny Binion was inducted into in 1988. The event has incredible rodeo history behind it and it is a must see if you are a fan of rodeo.

CBS Sports Network

To watch NFR live stream 2019 you have to join cbs network . One of the best events is on December 5th, the first day of the rodeo, called the PRCA Permit Holder of the Year Challenge. It is a two-round final that features the top five PRCA permit money earners from the 2019 rodeos. There are six events in total that the cowboys compete in. The events are bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, bull riding, steer wrestling, tie-down roping, and team roping. Each event features the top permit money earners from that event which means it will be a very interesting competition that anyone could take home.

On Friday, December 6th, the sale kicks it up a notch when the bull riding sale begins. This is no ordinary sale, the PRCA bull riders that are ranked 16th through 66th will compete against each other for a cash prize. The most interesting part is that the bulls are being sold while the cowboys are doing their best to stay on top of them. Generally, there are about 55 bulls that are sold during the event. The event also gives the riders a head start on next year’s season as the event counts towards their total for the 2019 season.

This sale gives you a behind the scenes look at how bulls and horses are exhibited and bought. You also get to see some of rodeo’s next best horses and can check out if any of your favorite cowboys purchase a new horse. Rodeos all around the country get some of their bulls for their rodeos at this event so watch closely and you could see a familiar face the next time you go to a rodeo.

Let’s go over the basics of the sport for those who have been living under a rock for the past 30 years. The main goal of the sport is to stay on the bull for as long as possible. The rider can only use one hand to stay on the bull; if the other hand so much as grazes the bull or himself then the rider will no receive any points for that ride. To stay on the bull, the rider grabs a flat braided rope that is attached to the bull by wrapping around the bull’s chest and then tightened around the bull to ensure that the rope does not come loose during the ride.

NFR Bull Riding

The extra slack in the rope is known as the tail and the rider uses it to hold onto the bull and try and stay on as long as he can. The ride begins as soon as the gate opens and the rider tries to stay on the bull for as long as he can. Every bull has a different bucking pattern and it is impossible to tell what the bull is going to do before he is let out of the gate, which is one of the many reasons that people find bull riding so exciting.

Sage Kimzey has been absolutely dominant in 2019, winning almost double in prize money than the rider in second place. Kimzey is the current star of bull riding and there is no one that can hold a candle to him currently. He became the youngest millionaire in the history of rodeo at the ripe age of 22 and now he is looking to win his 5th consecutive bull riding world championship title at the WNFR.

There is a good chance he will break his own personal earnings record and break over $500,000 in prize winnings for the year. Kimzey had an eight-second ride at the last finals a year ago which was enough to give him his fourth golden belt. He is already only four golden belts away from the all-time leader, Don Gay, who won eight titles and won his last at age 31. Kimzey could already be in the double digits by the time he is 31 years old.

Parker Breding is the greatest threat to Kimzey’s title in 2019. He is a young gun as well at only 26 years old he has really come into his own this year. He had the best year of his career so far pulling in over $180,000 for the 2019 season. Kimzey would have to have an awful final for Breeding to have a chance at the title but crazier things have happened.

Most of the cowboys that compete for the all-around title compete in both steer roping and tie-down roping, which makes sense because both events complement each other very well and they can easily be done at the same rodeo. The Cowboys are not limited to a certain number of events, they can compete in as many as they wish but most cowboys are limited to these two events if they want to win the all-around world championship.

Brazile tops All Around

One of the most interesting storylines at the National Finals Rodeo this year will be that two brother-in-laws battling it out for the all-around title. Tuf Cooper and Trevor Brazile have been brother-in-laws since 2001 when Brazile married Cooper’s sister Shada. They have been great friends ever since then and great competitors when Cooper joined the PRCA in 2008.

“It’s unique because I’ve watched him grow up,” Brazile said. “I’ve tried to help him any way I can, and to see his work ethic develop the way it has – nobody’s outworking him in the event that he does… in my opinion” That is an incredible endorsement from the amazing champion Brazile.

Tuf Cooper is the son of Roy Cooper who is one of the greatest cowboys of all time. Roy was the first cowboy to break $2 million in career earnings and he has cemented his legacy as a legendary cowboy. Tuf has followed in his father’s footsteps by becoming one of the bright young talents of his generation.

The 29-year-old already has four world titles to his name including three tie-down roping and one all around world championship. The all-around world championship came last year when he was able to best Brazile by over $20,000 to take home his first all-around championship.

Trevor Brazile is the greatest cowboy of all time. There is no discussion, he without a doubt has become the best ever over the past 20 years since he joined the PRCA. Brazile has won 23 world championships which is 14 more than the next closest competitor. He won 15 all-around titles out of 16 years from 2002 until 2015 which is simply incredible. He is one of the greatest competitors of all time and the fact that Cooper was the one to defeat him makes for an absolutely incredible story.

Look out for an all-star matchup between Brazile and Cooper in the WNFR. They will not hold anything back as both of the Cowboys try and win another all-around championship.

This storyline adds a lot to this year’s NFR and every single rodeo fan will be excited to see how the event pans out and who takes home the all-around world championship. Make sure that you watch Brazile and Cooper every single night at the National Finals Rodeo from December 5th to the 14th.
